echo, a new mobile messaging app, aimed to differentiate itself in an already saturated market dominated by industry giants. The challenge was to create a unique, visually appealing yet simple and intuitive design without compromising ease of use, that would still manage to attract users and keep them engaged.
1. User-Centred Design - User research was conducted to understand pain points with existing messaging apps. These findings guided the development of a clean, intuitive interface with a modern aesthetic, prioritising essential features while maintaining a visually engaging experience.
2. Prototype Testing - An interactive prototype was created, allowing early testers to provide feedback on navigation, usability, and the overall look and feel of the app. Iterative improvements were made based on user behaviour insights.
3. Feature Optimisation - Based on the user feedback, UI elements such as the icons for multimedia messaging, voice calls, video calls, as well as the chat bubbles themselves were all refined to enhance user engagement while maintaining a cohesive design language, with colour, typography, and spacing each given particular attention.
Early geometric explorations gave way to a clean, simplistic logo that speaks clearly and confidently.
The design leans into fun, friendly icons and playful message bubbles to keep the tone approachable and engaging.
An alternate rainbow-inspired colour palette celebrates the diversity of conversations and perspectives at the heart of the brand.
