Yirranma Place required a modern, accessible website to effectively communicate its mission, showcase its diverse programs, and engage a broad audience, including artists, partners, and the local community. The new website needed to reflect the precinct’s values, improve usability, and reinforce community integration.
In order to ensure an intuitive user experience while maintaining the precinct’s artistic and philanthropic essence, the process adhered to three key principles:
1. User-Centric Design - An easy-to-navigate website designed to accommodate multiple and varied user groups.
2. Storytelling - Vibrant imagery and compelling narratives to highlight the precinct’s impact.
3. Community Engagement - Interactivity to promote user participation.
Inspiration was drawn from indigenous Australian artwork, with subtle graphic motifs woven into the interface to reflect its rhythmic, organic feel.
Movement plays a central role, with parallax scrolling and fluid transitions helping to mirror the energy and layered nature of the art precinct itself.
A soft, pastel palette ensures the space remains calm and understated, allowing bold artwork and vibrant photography to take visual priority.
A significant increase in visitor engagement, with users spending more time exploring initiatives and events; higher attendance rates at exhibitions and community programs thanks to improved event visibility; positive feedback from stakeholders, praising the site’s clarity, visual appeal, and ability to replicate the precinct’s in-person experience.
By aligning technology with artistic and social purpose, the new website successfully elevates the arts precinct’s digital presence, strengthens its philanthropic outreach, and deepens connections within the creative community.
